Sunday 20th December – Fourth Sunday of Advent

Additional Collect

Eternal God,
as Mary waited for the birth of your Son,
so we wait for his coming in glory;
bring us through the birth pangs of this present age
to see, with her, our great salvation
in Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen

Holy Habits –  Fellowship

Everyone is going to find this week difficult.  On one hand Christmas is all about fellowship in our churches and in our homes, but one the other hand Covid-secure changes and threatens our fellowship.  Try to imagine the people you meet cradling the sleeping Lord Jesus in their arms and let your love for Jesus be in everything you say and do this week.
Take some time out to imagine cradling baby Jesus in your own arms, and the love of Jesus flow onto you.

Sunday Services

We are now able to offer public worship in all of our churches again. Places are still limited and booking is essential for all Christmas Services.

Online worship will continue to be available every week on the website, our facebook group and YouTube. For more details please see our Coronavirus update page.

The Julian Group and anyone who would like to join us, meets each in our own home at 7pm every Thursday. We light a candle and read a passage from the Bible followed by silence. Then we read the second passage followed by silence and ending with Compline or our own prayers. Different members choose the readings each week. The next meeting is on Thursday 24th December and the reading will be Isaiah 43. 1 -7 and the Advent hymn ‘Come, thou long expected Jesus’.

Please pray for

The sick, among them Claudia Tom and all affected by the coronavirus.

Pray for the NHS, care workers and all front line workers and volunteers. We pray for race equality and for all victims of race crime and brutality. Pray for everyone spending Christmas on their own or unable to be with their family.

Remember all those who have died recently including William Bishop, Margaret Armstrong and David Dingle. We remember those whose anniversary of death occurs at this time including Ian Warne.

Taking it in turns to pray for each other – this week we pray for St Enodoc.
