8th November, 2020

Following the government announcement about a new national lockdown, our Remembrance Sunday services will not be able to take place in church. Instead, we will have an online Remembrance Service available on Sunday 8th November at 10.30am.

If you are able to visit a war memorial with your household you may wish to use the following words:

An Act of Remembrance

Speaker: Let us remember before God, and commend to his safe keeping, those who have died for their country in war; those whom we knew and whose memory we treasure; and all who have lived and died in the service of the peoples of this world. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning: We will remember them.

Everyone: We will remember them.

Hold two minutes silence.

Speaker: They were young, as we are young, They served, giving freely of themselves. To them, we pledge, amid the winds of time, To carry their torch and never forget. We will remember them.

Everyone: We will remember them.

Speaker: When you go home tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow we gave our today.
