Sunday 18th October – St Luke

Additional Collect

Almighty God, you called Luke the physician,
whose praise is in the gospel,
to be an evangelist and physician of the soul:
by the grace of the Spirit and through the wholesome medicine of the gospel, give your church the same love and power to heal;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, Amen

Holy Habits –  Sharing Responsibility: Climate Change

Almost everywhere you look there is information on this. How can Christians be involved? What we do in this country affects those overseas. We are already exhorted to use less plastic, recycle more, and be sparing with water. Often what we no longer require can be used by others. Online sites such as Scrapstore, Freecycle and  charity shops can be used to recycle our goods, not just recycling our rubbish. Can we support the climate change campaign in any other ways?

We can share with those overseas by using our spending power. The obvious way is to buy Fairtrade products and support Traidcraft. But there are organizations that help farmers buy seed and equipment. Christian Aid is a good example. What can you do this week?

Sunday Services

It has been wonderful to be able to worship together in person again. We will be increasing the number of services in church in the next weeks, but places are still limited.

If you would like to come, please contact Revd Elizabeth, stating the date, time and place of the church service you wish to attend (Email or phone 07758 407661). If that service is already full, we will let you know.

For more information about Sunday services and what to expect, please visit our website. Those who are unable to attend church in person can worship with us online. Find the latest online services on our website and YouTube.

Online Services
We are continuing to offer online worship for those who cannot attend on Sundays. These will be a mixture of purpose-made online worship and services recorded in church on the previous Sunday. New online worship will be released every Tuesday morning on our website and on YouTube.

The Julian Group and anyone who would like to join us, meets each in our own home at 7pm every Thursday. We light a candle and read a passage from the Bible followed by silence. Then we read the second passage followed by silence and ending with Compline or our own prayers. Different members choose the readings each week. Thursday 22nd October they are 1 Samuel 3: 1-4; St John’s Gospel 1: 32-34.

Please pray for

The sick, among them Claudia Tom, Rosalind Smith & Jane Windeler and all affected by the coronavirus.
