10-13 October 2019
A host of acclaimed and award-winning authors converge on St Endellion for our seventh annual book festival. Novelists include John Boyne (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas), Deborah Moggach (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), David Nicholls (One Day), Tessa Hadley (Late in the Day), and Philip Reeve, author of the cult Mortal Engines novels. The children’s programme is headlined by the legendary Michael Morpurgo. We have poetry reading from poet, artist and film-maker Imtiaz Dharker; and memoir from Anything But The Girl‘s Tracey Thorn on her painful-hilarious account of her suburban youth Another Planet. Cream of Cornish, the popular platform for Cornwall-based authors, returns. More authors to be announced.
This year our signature workshops will be on playwriting, editing, publicity and an introduction to speaking Cornish!
Daytime and evening music include an immersion in French chanson with pure-toned jazz singer Gabrielle Ducomble and the amazing indie / folk / pop / electronica duo The Blackheart Orchestra. We also welcome back the much-loved Bookshop Band.
Exhibitions, bar and café will keep you comfortable and entertained between events.
The festival opens with a 2-day schools’ programme.
Booking opens 1st July on www.ncornbookfest.org
